Prayers to Cancel Evil Plans of The Enemy
The Bible tells us that we have an enemy, the devil. The devil has a plan to steal, kill, and destroy things in our life. He walks around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour whoever he can.
The devil hates you and me because we’re created in the image of God. He rebelled against God because he wanted to become like God and rule. When God didn’t let that happen and cast the devil out of heaven and down to the earth. Then the devil went on a mission to destroy humanity.
If we try to ignore the devil, or pretend that he doesn’t exist, there’s a good chance that he’ll have access to our life. We’re caught in the middle of a war and we need to fight back. Because the war is being fought in the spiritual realm, we need to fight with spiritual weapons.
One of the greatest weapons we have access to is prayer. But we need to know how to use the weapon effectively against the enemy. Here are some ways you can pray to cancel the evil plans of the enemy.
Pray for your enemies to get caught in their own trap
"Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely."
Psalm 141:10 NKJV
"So let sudden ruin come upon them! Let them be caught in the trap they set for me! Let them be destroyed in the pit they dug for me."
Psalm 35:8 NLT
"They spread a net for my feet— I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path— but they have fallen into it themselves."
Psalm 57:6 NIV
The enemy sets traps in hopes that we will walk into them. Because we’re in Christ, the devil can only do so much to hurt us or steal from us. Instead of blatant attacks on us, he sets traps and hopes that we’ll make bad decisions on our own. We need to be careful to not fall into his traps.
We need to pray that the traps the enemy sets would catch him instead of us.

Pray for spiritual discernment
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Ephesians 6:12 NIV
"And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."
2 Kings 6:17 NIV
In this story, Elisha’s servant doesn’t have the discernment that Elisha has. He’s worried about the enemy and has no idea how to stop him. He believe that there’s no hope, until Elisha prays for his eyes to be open. Because we’re in a spiritual battle and not a physical battle, we need to have spiritual discernment. You can imagine how difficult it would be to win a physical fight with your eyes closed.
If the enemy can convince us that we’ve already lost, then we have. Jesus has given us authority and power over the enemy, but if we believe that we stand no chance then we won’t put up a fight.
We need to pray for discernment so we see, understand, and cancel the plans of the enemy

"lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices." 2 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV
Paul is telling us that Satan can take advantage of our ignorance. We can’t do much to stop him if we lack discernment and are ignorant of his plans.
"Ears to hear and eyes to see— both are gifts from the Lord." Proverbs 20:12 NLT
Praying for eyes to see clearly and ears to hear clearly is one of my most common prayers. I want to see what God is doing in my life, and become aware of the traps that the enemy has placed. I want to hear God’s voice louder than the lies of the enemy. Both of these are free gifts from God, but we need to ask for them.
Pray for a revelation of your authority
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."
1 John 4:4 NKJV
You can have $1,000,000 in your bank account, but if you’re convinced that you only have $10, you’re going to live much differently. We need to pray for a revelation and understanding of the power and authority that we have in Christ so we can cancel the plans of our enemy.
"Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it."
Colossians 2:15 NKJV
"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come."
Ephesians 1:18-21 NIV
"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,"
Ephesians 2:6 NIV
Resist the devil
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."
James 4:7 NKJV
There’s a saying that goes something like: “the devil only has as much influence as you let him have.” And another that says, “Evil prevails when good men do nothing.” Jesus has already paid the full price for our victory over the enemy, but we need to walk in the authority that He’s given us.
We need to enforce His victory.
Canceling the plans of the enemy requires our active resistance. The only way that the devil has power over us is if we lie down and willingly let him steal, kill, and destroy our life.
Once you understand your authority in Christ, you can confidently rebuke and resist the devil.
Jesus knew that He had authority over the devil, so when He said “away with you Satan!” or “come out of that boy!” Jesus fully believed that it would happen. Because it’s a spiritual battle, we resist the devil by faith and by the words we speak. We need to be strong in the spirit, rather than physically strong.
When the disciples failed to cast out a demon, Jesus said it was because of their lack of faith and their unbelief.
Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
"So Jesus said to them, 'Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.'"
Matthew 17:18-21 NKJV
Build your faith through prayer and fasting, and actively resist and cancel the plans that the devil has for you.
