Do you know what you have in Christ? Jesus paid the highest price to give everyone what we could never obtain on our own. We have been given access to unsearchable riches being in Christ. Now, we have the responsibility to understand and receive what He has given us. If our experiences aren’t lining up with what God’s Word says, it’s usually on us. It’s impossible for God to lie, so when He says we have something in Christ it means we have it. The problem comes when we don’t realize what we have. We can have a million dollars in our bank account, but if it’s unrealized we won’t live any differently.
We Have The Mind of Christ
But we have the mind of Christ.1 Corinthians 2:16
Paul made it clear, we have the mind of Christ. It’s a simple fact. But what does it mean? A few verses earlier in this chapter Paul explains that, “These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:10. Paul continues by explaining, “What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.” 1 Corinthians 2:12.
We need to gain a revelation that we really do have the mind of Christ. That we can understand the deep things of God, and understand what He has freely given us. Understanding that is guaranteed to change your life and the ways you think. There are people who operate and live by the spirit of the world. The spirit of the world gives no insight into the things of God. Paul says that to these people the things of God are considered foolishness (1 Cor. 2:14).
The vastness of having the mind of Christ should continually overwhelm us. God has given us all access to His deepest thoughts. Because we have the mind of Christ we have an insurmountable amount of wisdom and understanding. We can come to God with out questions and He will answer them. We can ask for God’s thoughts about circumstances and receive them. We can know God’s heart because we have His Spirit within us. We can walk in step with God because of what He has freely given us. God’s desire is to reveal things to us that only He knows. What an incredible blessing!
We Have Eternal Life
But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.Romans 6:23
Understanding this will shift our perspective. Often we think of our entire life as the 80-100 years we live here on earth. The reality is when we leave our body on earth we will be present with God (2 Cor. 5:8).
Knowing this should inspire us to focus on what really matters. Are you letting the little things, that truly don’t matter in the grand scheme of things, bother you? We can only live to our fullest potential when we choose to focus on the bigger picture. It can be so easy to get distracted, discouraged, and defeated when we focus on the smallest of problems. There is no need to be trapped due to a bad day, bad week, or bad year. Hope is the simple belief that your future will be better than the past.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.Revelation 21:4
We have a never-ending hope and faith because we are secured in Christ for eternity. Jesus was sacrificed in order to make us worthy to enter the Presence of God for eternity. While our human mind can’t comprehend eternity, we know that we have something to look forward to.
Paul said that he was torn, even hard-pressed, between staying on earth and going to heaven. He said that he knew being with Christ in heaven was better by far, but it was necessary for him to stay. If Paul was only concerned about himself, then he would’ve easily chose to go to heaven, but he wasn’t. Paul said that it was more necessary for the people he was serving that he stay on earth and finish serving God, which he knew would be fruitful (see Philippians 1:22-25).
Paul’s passion was to see everyone develop the relationship he had with Jesus. He knew that no matter what happened while he was on earth it wouldn’t compare to everything he would soon experience in heaven. He knew that no matter how much pain and suffering he might experience, there was an end and he would be with Jesus forever.
We Have a Great Boldness of Faith
Great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.1 Timothy 3:13
Our faith is not in ourselves, our abilities, or our circumstances. I’m thankful that my faith in in Jesus and not myself. I can put all of my eggs in one basket. I can have a great, bold faith in God and His word. I don’t need to worry about things not working out because God says they will.
Boldness of faith isn’t something we need to manufacture within ourselves. Bold faith will come when you believe God at His word. Great faith is simply believing that what God said is true. It doesn’t matter what the current circumstances look like, our faith is in Christ. Because we are in Christ we are bold. Our great boldness comes from who He is, everything He has said, and everything He has done.
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of graceHebrews 4:16
When faith doesn’t look great and bold it’s typically because it’s misplaced. You can’t expect to have great faith if the foundation of faith is built upon past experiences. Our faith won’t be bold if it’s based upon us instead of Jesus. The only reason we can approach God with boldness is because of our position in Christ. When we are in Christ we are seen by God in His perfection.
I’m praying that everyone reading this would receive an understanding of what they have in Christ. I pray that your hearts and eyes would be open to see the riches of what He has freely given us. And that we would come to know who we are and who God is in a new way.
